SWEAP was established in 2014 in response to requests from local organisations for the provision of high quality, reliable, local employee counselling and well-being services. Whilst local organisations have access to a range of EAP providers, more often than not these providers are based in metropolitan centres, or interstate. As such, counselling is often provided inconsistently, solely by telephone, or services are contracted out at very low rates to independent practitioners (of varying qualification and experience levels), resulting in a lower quality service. Hence assurance of quality service provision can be lacking.
SWEAP has been designed to ensure that highly qualified local providers can provide EAP services reliably. SWEAP clinicians have demonstrated track records for achieving improved client outcomes and increasing organisational performance.
