Local artists, photographers, film makers, writers, creative thinkers and innovators are invited to apply for a $550 scholarship to attend the Emergence Creative Festival.

Scheduled to be held between 8 and 11 March 2015 in the Margaret River Region, the festival is an ‘anti-conference’ which works to promote collaboration, encourage discussion and invoke inspiration.

The scholarship winner will be entitled to participate in all sessions and workshops which cover topics such as communications, film, photography, digital space, music, innovative design and technology.

Shire of Augusta Margaret River Chief Executive Officer Gary Evershed said the Shire introduced the scholarship program as a means of encouraging local people to pursue their creative passions.

“We had a diverse field of applications last year and hope to achieve similar number this year,” he said.

“I would emphasise we aren’t necessarily looking for the most technically proficient person or the person with the best portfolio.

“We are really looking for someone who we believe will value the opportunity, use it as an opportunity for self-development and upskilling.

“Each application will be considered on its own merit.”

Anyone interested in applying for the scholarship need to write a blurb of 100 words or less answering What do you hope to gain from Emergence in 2015?, plus three work samples, to arussell@amrshire.wa.gov.au by 5pm Thursday 26 February 2015.

Winners should be available to attend the Emergence Creative Festival scheduled to be held between 8 and 11 March and live in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

The winner will be notified by 5pm Friday 27 February.

The scholarship is non-transferable and does not covering ticketing to the social networking events.

A limited number of tickets are still available for purchase from www.emergencecreative.com
